LOT 555 1788 Connecticut Miller 16.1-D R3 Draped Bust Left F12 . Sharpness VF20 but covered with very fine granularity mixed with a few small pits, mostly on the obverse. Some of the pits contain traces of light green verdigris. Slightly glossy chocolate brown and steel blending to darker olive brown and steel in protected areas. Later die state with swelling on the obverse and a cud break at the feet of the seated figure. The date and legends are strong. Weight 117.2 grains.

LOT 556 1788 Connecticut Miller 16.1-H R4 Draped Bust Left F15+ . Glossy medium chocolate and steel brown. Smooth and quite nice for the grade. A thin planchet fissure at K-10 on the reverse is the only notable defect. The reverse is slightly misaligned to K-9; the obverse is off a smaller amount to K-5. Struck with the reverse rotated 65 degrees clockwise relative to a normal head-to-foot die orientation. The bottom of the date is off the planchet. Comes with a nice provenance. Weight 134.0 grains.

LOT 557 1787 Massachusetts Half Cent Ryder 5-A R3 VF25 . Choice frosty light olive brown and steel. No spots, stains, or contact marks. Nicely struck with smooth surfaces, just lightly worn on the devices. The date and legends are strong. Listed on page 59 in the 2023 “Redbook.” Weight 75.1 grains.
LOT 558 1788 Massachusetts Half Cent Ryder 1-B R1 VF30 . Ten points sharper but the reverse (Indian side) is covered with microscopic granularity, strongest at WEALTH where there are traces of verdigris. The obverse is smooth and choice, the only mark being a tiny planchet fissure in the rim at ET (as struck). Frosty chocolate brown on the obverse, reddish steel brown on the reverse. Sharply struck and attractive. Listed on page 59 in the 2023 “Redbook.” Weight 76.6 grains.
