LOT 483 Quartet of British Evasion Halfpennies . Grades are VG to XF. Includes three dated 1775 and one Britons Happy Isle (Atkins-60). The first 3 have a readable date, the last is undated. Lot of 4 coins.

LOT 484 Group of 15 British Evasion Coppers grading Poor to Good . Includes 14 halfpennies and one farthing. Some have a date but most are rough. Inspection recommended. Lot of 15 coins.

LOT 487 1776 Machin’s Mills Halfpenny Vlack 6-76A R4 Large Date AG3 . Sharpness F12 but dented and bent. Otherwise quite nice (surprisingly) with glossy medium brown toning and a clear date. A popular date for Machin’s collectors, and the only other variety dated 1776 is extremely rare. Weight 104.1 grains.

LOT 485 1749 Machin’s Mills Halfpenny Vlack 1-47a R5 VG8 . Slightly sharper with areas of fine roughness on both sides. No verdigris and the only mark is a minor planchet clip over EX in REX (as struck). Slightly glossy reddish chocolate brown with lighter brown toning covering the devices. The date is strong and the legends are clear. Listed on page 67 in the 2023 “Redbook.” Weight 125.1 grains.

LOT 488 1778 Machin’s Mills Halfpenny Vlack 11-78A R3 F15+ . Sharper, especially on the reverse, but there are fine hairline scratches on both sides, mostly on the obverse. Reasonably smooth but a glass reveals very fine granularity mixed with verdigris in the fields and protected areas. The date is strong and the legends are easily readable. Listed on page 67 in the 2023 “Redbook.” Weight 100.1 grains.

LOT 486 1774 Machin’s Mills Halfpenny Vlack 8-74A R4 VG10 . A few points sharper but dull from uniform extremely fine granularity. No verdigris. A light scratch in the field before the chin is the only mark. Slightly glossy dark steel with lighter steel brown highpoints. The date and legends are complete and easily readable but not strong. Listed on page 67 in the “Redbook.” Weight 101.9 grains.

LOT 489 1778 Machin’s Mills Halfpenny Vlack 11-78A R3 VG8 . Sharpness F15 but covered with fine planchet striations mixed with granularity. No marks or verdigris. Rather glossy medium brown and chocolate. The bottom of the 8 is weak but the rest of the date is clear as is most of the legend. Listed on page 67 in the 2023 “Redbook.” Weight 99.2 grains.
