EARLY CENTS AUCTIONS

LOT 490 1778 Machin’s Mills Halfpenny Vlack 12-78B R3 VF25 . Significantly sharper but there are myriad fine scratches on both sides. The scratches do not break the toning but they are visible to the unaided eye. Otherwise smooth except for a spot of light corrosion and verdigris at the truncation. Nicely centered on a quality planchet with attractive glossy medium chocolate brown toning. Early die state. The date and legends are complete and bold. Weight 104.5 grains.

LOT 493 1787 Machin’s Mills Halfpenny Vlack 19-87C R2 NGC Fine Details Damaged . Glossy light olive and steel brown. Smooth and quite nice except for some obvious dull dents at the throat on the obverse and on the chest of the seated figure. The date is bold and the legends are clear. Our grade is net VG8. Weight 117.5 grains. The attribution and Eric P. Newman collection provenance are noted on the special NGC label. Certificate #2064375-068
