LOT 477 1773 Virginia Halfpenny Newman 10-W R5 NGC XF Details Environmental Damage . Rather glossy chocolate brown and steel with a splash of reddish brown toning covering the lower third of the obverse. The reddish area contains traces of minor roughness and verdigris but the rest of the planchet is smooth. A rim bruise at K-1 on the obverse is the only contact marks. Lightly worn on the highpoints. Our grade is net VF20. Certificate #3428821-002

LOT 480 1760 Voce Populi Halfpenny Nelson-6 R5 F15 . Glossy light to medium brown blending to chocolate in protected areas. The only mark is a short, light scratch at the bottom of the second P in POPULI. The date, which was corrected from 1700 to 1760, is bold and the legends are strong except for the upper half of the seated figure. LDS. Listed on page 46 in the 2023 “Redbook.” Weight 99.1 grains.

LOT 481 1760 Voce Populi Halfpenny Nelson-10 R5 VG7 . Slightly sharper with areas of fine porosity on both sides. No verdigris or notable marks. The 60 is weak but the rest of the date and all of the legends are clear. Mostly glossy medium brown blending to olive brown in protected areas. A “Tall Head” variety. Listed on page 46 in the 2023 “Redbook.” Weight 115.2 grains.

LOT 478 1773 Virginia Halfpenny with Period After GEORGIVS VF20 . Five points sharper but covered with microscopic granularity. No marks or verdigris. Olive brown and steel with lighter highpoints. See page 42 in the “Redbook.” Weight 119.4 grains.

LOT 482 1741-BB Billon Sou Marque Vlack-253 R1 AU50 . Strasbourg mint. Frosty bright silvery gray with darker gray toning on the highpoints. Nicely struck and free of defects with just a touch of friction on the highpoints. Listed on pages 49-50 of the 2023 “Redbook.” Weight 26.9 grains

LOT 479 1760 Voce Populi Halfpenny Nelson-6 R5 VG10 . Slightly sharper but there are a few rim dents on an otherwise smooth, attractive piece. Glossy light to medium brown blending to chocolate in protected areas. The date, which was corrected from 1700 to 1760, is bold and the legends are strong. LDS. Listed on page 46 in the 2023 “Redbook.” Weight 99.5 grains.
