LOT 466 1723 Rosa Americana Penny VG8 . Several points sharper but covered with microscopic granularity. The only marks are some small planchet chips around the rims. Slightly glossy dark olive and steel. The date and legends are complete and easily readable. See page 40 in the 2023 “Redbook.” Weight 127.9 grains.

LOT 468 1723 Wood’s Hibernia Farthing Martin 1.1-Bc.1 R5 EF40 . Sharpness close to mint state but there are shallow planchet laminations on the reverse with small patches of dark planchet slag. Very sharply struck. Listed on pages 41-42 in the 2023 “Redbook.” Weight 57.1 grains.

LOT 467 1733 Rosa Americana Twopence COPY by Robinson, Kenney-4, Choice UNC . A sharp, choice example that some call Proof. Medium reddish brown. Listed as brass on the old envelope but looks more like bronze. Produced by Alfred S. Robinson (1836-1876) of Hartford, Connecticut. Only 45 were struck in copper, an equal number in brass, and 10 in silver before the dies were destroyed. Weight 225.3 grains.

EX NORWEB WOOD’S HIBERNIA FARTHING
LOT 469 1723 Wood’s Hibernia Farthing Martin 3.1-Bc.2 R4 VF35 . Ten points sharper with a small planchet void on the rim at the bottom of the reverse and traces of very fine verdigris on both sides. Glossy olive brown and reddish chocolate. Strong die clashmarks show at the top of the obverse. Listed on pages 41-42 in the 2023 “Redbook.” Comes with a nice provenance. Weight 55.9 grains.
