RARE PATTERN ROSA AMERICANA EX NORWEB

LOT 464 1723 Rosa Americana Penny Pattern Breen-120 R7+ PCGS graded VF35 . Struck in copper plated bath metal. About 25-30% of the copper plating remains and there are a few small splashes of brassy toning on the reverse. Minor roughness in the planchet, as usual with these bath metal pieces. Lightly worn but most of the 24 seeds in the rose are still visible (the accepted version has only 17 seeds). Very rare and it comes with a nice provenance. The Norweb provenance is noted on the PCGS label. Certificate #541751.35/32086532

LOT 465 1723 Rosa Americana Penny Breen-121 AU58 . Choice frosty bright golden tan with brown toning on the highpoints. Looks mint state but there is a hint of rub on the highest points of the devices. No marks or planchet flaws. A beautiful piece. Listed on page 40 in the 2023 “Redbook.” Weight 119.0 grains.
