EARLY CENTS AUCTIONS

LOT 289 1797 C-3a Low Head with Plain Edge R2 G5 . Glossy light olive and medium brown. Smooth with nice eye appeal, just worn. The date is strong. A small spot of dark toning on the left end of the wreath stem is the best identifying mark. EDS.

LOT 286 1795 C-2a R3 Punctuated Date, Lettered Edge, NGC graded VG10 . Brown and light chocolate on the devices with dark steel brown in the fields and protected areas. The devices are glossy but the fields are rather dull thanks to extremely faint granularity. No verdigris and the only marks are some faint hairline scratches at the top of the head and in the field off the bust. MDS, Manley state 2.0, with obvious swelling at MER. The date and legends are clear and the comma punctuation between the 1 & 7 is obvious. Our grade is F12 sharpness net VG10. The attribution is noted on the NGC label. Certification Number 6685628-004

Ex “Hooker”

LOT 290 1797 C-3b Low Head with Lettered Edge R3 AG3 . Glossy medium brown blending to light chocolate in protected areas. Smooth and void of significant marks, just heavily worn. A small nick just right of the date can help identify this piece. The date is strong and the edge lettering is easy to read (although the letters are too tall to fit on the thin planchet, as usual).

LOT 287 1795 C-2a R3 Punctuated Date, Lettered Edge, G5 . A couple points sharper with fine scratches on the obverse, mostly on the cap into the field below. Glossy light olive and chocolate. The date is strong and the “punctuation” between the 1 & 7 is clear. MDS.

SHARP 1796 C-2

LOT 291 1803 C-1 R1 NGC graded F15 . Glossy olive brown and steel. Smooth with trivial marks and nice eye appeal. MDS, Manley state 2.0. The repunching at the left top of the 3 is clear and the reverse is cracked. Our grade is F15. The attribution is noted on the NGC label. Certification Number 6685628-008

Ex “Hooker”

LOT 288 1796 C-2 R4 With Pole, PCGS Fine Detail, Environmental Damage . A nicely detailed piece with very little actual wear evident, but the planchet is covered with uniform fine granularity under a dark olive patina. There are two small specks of waxy verdigris in the hair at the shoulder and the only signs of contact are a pair of faint hairlines at the bottom of the cap into the field to the left and a small collection of tiny scratches at the dentils just left of the first S in STATES. The scratches are hidden under the toning and the specks of verdigris are not distracting. The date is strong and the legends are complete with some weakness on HALF CENT. Our grade is net VG8. The attribution is noted on the PCGS label. Certification Number 35098.97/50463617

LOT 292 1803 C-1 R1 VG10 . Glossy olive brown with lighter brown on the devices. Smooth and nice for the grade. EDS.
