 LUSTROUS MACHIN’S MILLS VLACK 17-87B

LOT 238 1787 Machin’s Mills Vlack 17-87B, W-7910 R2, PCGS graded AU58 . Lustrous light brown with slightly darker steel brown toning on the highpoints. Satiny and choice except for some very small planchet flakes scattered over the obverse (as struck). The reverse is superb. Just a trace of friction on the highpoints from mint state. Later die state with obvious swelling on the reverse, especially at RIT and NIA. The date is bold and the legends are strong. A superior piece that has great eye appeal. The attribution is noted on the PCGS label. Certification Number 826956.58/44007852

LOT 239 1787 Machin’s Mills Vlack 17-87B, W-7910 R2 F15 . Mostly glossy dark olive brown and steel with lighter brown in protected areas. Mostly smooth but a glass reveals microscopic roughness in the fields and protected areas. The only notable mark is a thin planchet fissure slanting down through the portrait, strongest at the bottom (as struck). EDS but not the earliest with a small cud break connecting the bases of the G & E in GEORGIVS. The date is strong and the legends are clear. Weight 116.5 grains.

LOT 240 1787 Machin’s Mills Vlack 18-87C, W-7930 R4+, NGC graded AU58 . Choice frosty medium chocolate brown and steel. Satiny luster covers the protected areas and this piece has superb eye appeal. Sharply struck and nearly flawless with just a hint of wear on the highpoints. The only marks, and they are trivial, are a very faint horizontal hairline across the throat and a tiny planchet chip (as struck) at the left base of the 8. The attribution and Partrick Collection provenance are noted on the NGC label. Certification Number 6054807-019
