EARLY CENTS AUCTIONS
LOT 212 1788 Connecticut Miller 7-F.2 R6 MBL, PCGS graded F15 . Slightly glossy medium brown with darker reddish chocolate brown in protected areas. The highpoints are smooth but the fields and protected areas are covered with fine roughness mixed with a few specks of greenish verdigris. The lower part of the obverse is weak as is CONNEC, but everything else is properly struck. The date and AUCTOPI error are complete and strong. Earlier die state. The crack through the hand on the staff and head is clear but there is no evidence of die clashing. The attribution and Twin Leaf provenance are noted on the PCGS label. Certification Number 687257.15/36651814
LOT 210 1788 Connecticut Miller 5-B.2 R5- MBR, PCGS graded VF35 . Slightly glossy olive brown and steel with lighter brown on the highpoints. The obverse is a bit dull thanks to extremely fine roughness while the reverse is smooth and mostly glossy. There are traces of verdigris on the obverse that are visible under magnification. The only mark is a shallow planchet fissure at the knee of the seated figure. Earlier die state before the bulge through the second C in CONNEC. Traces of undertype from a NOVA CONSTELLATIO copper affect the 17 in the date but the 88 is clear. The attribution and Twin Leaf provenance are noted on the PCGS label. Certification Number 687254.35/36651811

LOT 211 1788 Connecticut Miller 7-E R5 MBL VF20 . Rather glossy light olive brown and chocolate. Looks smooth and the eye appeal is quite nice for the grade, but a glass reveals extremely fine roughness on all but the highpoints. No verdigris. The only planchet flaw is a fine fissure through the I in INDE. There are some small contact marks including a half dozen small pricks on the obverse, a rim nick at OR in AUCTORI, and a small dig at the rim over the E in ET. Later die state with minor swelling in the center of the reverse that weakens those details. The date and legends are complete. Weight 123.5 grains.
LOT 213 1788 Connecticut Miller 11-G R2 MBL, PCGS graded AU55 . Frosty light to medium steel brown in the fields and protected areas with dark steel brown toning on the highpoints. Sharp and quite attractive with no defects and just a light touch of friction on the highpoints. A great example of the date and type. Later die state with die clashmarks on both sides and short die cracks from the bust and I in INDE. Struck slightly off center to K-7. The attribution and Sydney F. Martin Collection provenance are noted on the special PCGS label. Certification Number 687263.55/16080597
