 BEAUTIFUL M.43.2-X.4 RARITY

LOT 207 1787 Connecticut Miller 43.2-X.4 R6 DBL, PCGS graded XF45 . Choice glossy medium brown with satiny frost in protected areas around the legends. The head is softly struck and covered with small planchet chips as is the opposing lower part of the seated figure, but everything else is smooth. There is very little wear on this piece and the best identifying mark is a small group of very tiny parallel lines of dark toning at ET. EDS before any die clashmarks on the obverse. An impressive example of this rare variety that was missing from the Ford collection. A CONNFC variety, but the feature is not obvious on this example because it is from the early die state (die not worn enough to eliminate the lower bar of the E). The attribution and CONNFC feature are noted on the PCGS label. Certification Number 687375.45/38609229

LOT 209 1788 Connecticut Miller 2-D R1 MBR VF35 . Glossy medium brown and light chocolate with slightly darker steel brown toning on the highpoints. There is obvious planchet chipping in the centers and on the left part of both sides. The notable flaw is a diagonal fissure from the top of the obverse to the forehead. There is a tiny rim nick under the bust and a minor planchet clip over the I in LIB. Early state with just a few cracks at the shoulder and a fine crack up from the leaf tip at the top of the head. The date is bold. Weight 105.2 grains.

LOT 208 1787 Connecticut Miller 44-W.4 R4 DBL VF20 . Glossy light brown with medium chocolate brown toning in protected areas. There is a spot of darker reddish chocolate toning in the field at the tip of the nose and a smaller one before the neck. The planchet is mostly smooth with just a few trivial chips on both sides, but a lamination flaw weakens the 17 in the date. In addition the planchet is slightly bent with a pinch at the rim just left of the date, a defect not mentioned in the Oechsner catalog. Later die state with obvious bulges in the field before the portrait and around the periphery on the reverse. Struck slightly off center to K-5. Weight 140.5 grains.
