LOT 194 1787 Connecticut Miller 36-l.1 R5 DBL, PCGS graded XF45 . Glossy olive brown and chocolate with lighter steel brown on the highpoints. There are minor planchet chips in the hair and the opposing globe but overall this planchet is quite nice. Lightly worn with only trivial contact marks. A tiny rim nick at the second N in CONNEC is the best identifying mark. Struck very slightly off center to K-6. The date and legends are bold. Clearly superior to the Taylor and Perkins examples; at least equal to the Miller Ford piece. Clearly in the condition census for the variety. Weight 149.4 grains. The attribution and Robert M. LOT 195 1787 Connecticut Miller 36-l.1 R5 DBL, PCGS graded VF30 . Superb glossy light to medium brown. A lightly worn beauty. Just a few trivial marks including a fine hairline scratch from just over the eyebrow to the back of the head. Later die state than the preceding lot with minor swelling at the date into the area above and resulting weakness on the opposing head of the seated figure. Weight 159.1 grains. LOT 196 1787 Connecticut Miller 37.2-k.5 R5+ DBL, PCGS graded XF45 . Mostly glossy medium brown and light chocolate. The highpoints are smooth but microscopic planchet chips cover much of the fields and protected areas on both sides, especially on the reverse. The planchet flaws are strongest right of the I in AUCTORI. None of the flaws is significant but there are too many to ignore. The date and legends are easily readable. Struck marginally off center to the top causing the bottom of the date to be slightly off the planchet. The attribution is noted in yellow ink in the field off the chin as 37-12/k’5. The attribution is noted on the PCGS label. (The holder is scuffed on the obverse.). Certification Number 687366.45/40483193
