 CONDITION CENSUS M.33.34-Z.11

LOT 181 1787 Connecticut Miller 33.34-Z.11 R5 DBL, PCGS graded AU53 . Choice glossy medium brown blending to light chocolate in protected areas on the obverse. A beautiful early copper with trivial planchet flaws; a tiny fissure below the right corner of the eye and microscopic chips on the legs of the seated figure are the only flaws visible without the aid of a glass. Light wear and no contact marks, but there is a trace of verdigris hidden in protected areas around the hand below E in INDE. Slightly off center to K-7. Intermediate die state with cracks on both sides. Superior to the Miller-Ford, Perkins, and Taylor examples; clearly a condition census example of the variety. The attribution is noted on the PCGS label. Certification Number 686337.53/46263280

Ex the Copper Mountain Collection

LOT 183 1787 Connecticut Miller 33.36-T.2 R2 DBL, PCGS graded XF45 . Mostly glossy light chocolate and medium brown with an area of darker olive brown in the hair and a few small spots of similar toning at the bust. Traces of shallow crud or verdigris are present in the darker areas. Mostly smooth but there is minor chipping in the centers. Would benefit from a proper bath to uncover the underlying frost. The obverse is misaligned to K-1. Intermediate die state with swelling on the obverse and die cracks on both sides. The attribution and Twin Leaf provenance are noted on the PCGS label. Certification Number 686340.45/36650741
