LOT 168 1787 Connecticut Miller 33.20-Z.9 R5 DBL, PCGS graded VF20 . Glossy olive brown and steel with lighter steel brown on the devices. Smooth with very nice eye appeal. The only defects are a planchet chip on the edge at the E in INDE, a smaller flake at the cinquefoil left of the face of the seated figure, a tiny chip on her shoulder (why the attitude?), and a pair of small nicks on her knee. Struck slightly off center to the top leaving the bottom edge of the date off the planchet. The attribution is noted on the PCGS label. (The front of the holder is scratched.). Certification Number 686372.20/46360198
LOT 170 1787 Connecticut Miller 33.23-hh.2 R6 DBL, PCGS graded XF40 . Glossy golden brown and tan with light chocolate in protected areas. Smooth with a few shallow planchet voids including one close under the eye and another on the chest of the seated figure. A ragged planchet clip at ONN and the opposing IB affects some dentils but none of the devices. Well struck except for the head of the seated figure, which is quite weak (same as on the Ford example). Later die state with obvious swelling at the feet of the seated figure. Struck a bit off center to the bottom. A nice example of this tough variety, probably in the lower part of the condition census. The attribution is noted on the PCGS label. Certification Number 686378.40/46263279
