EARLY CENTS AUCTIONS

LOT 162 1787 Connecticut Miller 33.15-r.1 R2 DBL VF20 . Glossy medium brown with olive brown in protected areas. Smooth with no trace of corrosion or verdigris. Just a few marks including two dull ticks in the field off the mouth and a small rim bruise at the top of the obverse. Later die state with dull die clashmarks in the obverse fields. The date and legends are bold. Removed from a PCGS holder graded VF25 (PCGS label #370.25/45082670 included). Weight 148.1 grains. Ex Kevin Vinton

LOT 165 1787 Connecticut Miller 33.17-r.1 R1 DBL, PCGS graded VF35 . Variety with the B in LIB over a cinquefoil. Attractive glossy medium brown blending to chocolate in protected areas. Smooth and choice, just lightly worn. The best identifying mark is a dull, light nick on the top of the first 7. Struck slightly off center to the bottom. The misplaced cinquefoil under the B in LIB is clearly visible. A nice mid-grade example of this die-cutter error. The attribution and B over Cinquefoil feature are noted on the PCGS label. LOT 166 1787 Connecticut Miller 33.17-gg.2 R5 DBL, PCGS graded XF45 . An ET LIR variety. Slightly glossy medium brown and steel with darker reddish chocolate along the rim at the top of the reverse. Mostly smooth but there are many planchet chips on the face and at the head of the seated figure--a result of both areas being softly struck. Another planchet void shows near the rim left of the date. Slightly off center to K-7 leaving the bottom edge of the bust off the planchet. The date is strong. Late die state with strong die cracks at IR to right of the date. The ET LIR feature is bold. Weight 135.4 grains. The attribution and Robert M. Martin Collection provenance are noted on the PCGS label. Certification Number 685142.45/38406819

LOT 164 1787 Connecticut Miller 33.16-l.2 R5+ DBL, PCGS graded F15 . Glossy light to medium brown. Smooth with just a couple thin planchet fissures on the reverse and a small chip out of the rim at the first C in CONNEC. The only notable contact mark is a scratch at the A in AUCTORI. The date is clear but some of the legends on the reverse are weak due to the late die state. The vertical die crack at the face of the seated figure is strong. The attribution is noted on the PCGS label. Certification Number 685138.15/46360199
