LOT 160 1787 Connecticut Miller 33.11-gg.1 R6- DBL, PCGS graded VF20 . Attractive glossy light brown on the devices with medium brown blending to light chocolate in protected areas. Mostly smooth and the eye appeal is quite nice for the grade, but there are traces of minor roughness and verdigris, mostly around the head on the reverse. There are several fine scratches on the portrait and seated figure visible under magnification; the only marks visible to the unaided eye are a dull diagonal nick in the field at the throat and a small rim bruise at OR in AUCTORI. Struck very slightly off center to K-9. The details on the face are weak, as always on this variety. The ET LIR feature is clear. Superior to the Taylor and Perkins examples, slightly inferior to the Miller-Ford piece. The attribution and Robert M. Martin Collection provenance are noted on the PCGS label. Certification Number 685181.20/38406806
LOT 159 1787 Connecticut Miller 33.11-Z.18 R5 DBL, PCGS graded XF40 . Mostly glossy light golden brown with light olive and chocolate in protected areas. Possibly lightly cleaned long ago. Softly struck on the head, especially on the face. The overall strike is strong on the right sides, weaker on the left, and the strike is a bit off center to the left as well. Intermediate die state with a slightly raised retained cud break at TO in AUCTORI (possibly a full cud without enough striking pressure to fill it?). The date is bold. Superior to the Ford, Perkins, and Taylor examples in some respects, but the uneven strike is an issue. The attribution and Twin Leaf provenance are noted on the PCGS label. Certification Number 685180.40/36054173

THE NORWEB-ROBERT MARTIN M.33.13-Z.7
LOT 161 1787 Connecticut Miller 33.13-Z.7 R5 DBL, PCGS graded AU53 . Glossy medium brown and light chocolate with specks of dark olive brown toning in the tiny planchet flakes that are scattered over both sides. The largest planchet flaw is on the chest of the seated figure. Flowline luster shows in the fields and protected areas on the obverse; the reverse is dull in comparison. No contact marks and very little actual wear. More centered on the planchet than the Ford and Perkins coins but the bottom of the date is still off the planchet. Late die state with extensive cracks and swelling. A condition census example and a neat die state. Weight 140.3 grains. Comes with a nice provenance. The attribution and Robert M. Martin Collection provenance are noted on the PCGS label. Certification Number 685131.53/38406811
