SUPERB M.33-2-Z.12

LOT 148 1787 Connecticut Miller 33.1-Z.13 R5 DBL, PCGS graded VF35 . Rather glossy chocolate brown with lighter brown on the highpoints. Smooth except for some chipping on the cheek and in the area around the outstretched arm on the reverse where those details are faint or missing. The edge in the weakly struck area is uneven, an improperly cut planchet. Very late die state with additional die cracks on the obverse, a small cud break on top of the O in CONNEC, and heavy swelling on the bust that accounts for the opposing weakness at the outstretched arm. Struck with the reverse rotated 70 degrees clockwise. Weight 121.2 grains. Comes with a nice provenance. The attribution and Twin Leaf provenance are noted on the PCGS label. Certification Number 685202.35/36054050

LOT 150 1787 Connecticut Miller 33.2-Z.12 R1 DBL AU50+ . Beautiful frosty medium brown blending to light olive brown in protected areas. The surfaces are smooth, the strike is strong, and this piece has superb eye appeal. Perfectly centered on a flawless planchet with just a touch of wear on the highpoints of the devices. The best struck example known to us and considered the finest by Rothschild. Clearly superior to the Perkins, Ford, and Taylor examples. A premium example of a relatively common Connecticut variety. Very close to AU55. Weight 129.8 grains.

LOT 149 1787 Connecticut Miller 33.1-Z.19 R5 DBL, PCGS graded F15 . Glossy medium brown with darker olive brown crud in protected areas. Reasonably smooth with only tiny planchet flaws, mostly at the top of the reverse where the strike is quite weak due to swelling at the bottom of the obverse. Later die state with obvious die clashmarks at DE in INDE in addition to the swelling on the lower obverse. The date and legends are bold-- with the exception of the upper reverse, of course. Struck slightly off center to K-3. The attribution is noted on the PCGS label. Certification Number 685203.15/46409453
