EARLY CENTS AUCTIONS

LOT 127 1787 Connecticut Miller 12-Q R3 MBL, Overdate 1787 over 1877, VG8 . Sharpness VF20 but covered with fine roughness and there is a significant planchet flaw at the chest of the portrait. Otherwise free of notable defects. The date is strong and the overdate feature is clear. Bold die clashmarks are visible on the right side of the obverse. Slightly glossy dark olive brown with medium brown toning on the devices. Weight 84.0 grains.

LOT 125 1787 Connecticut Miller 11.1-E R2 MBL, PCGS graded VF30 . Dark olive brown with slightly lighter steel brown on the highpoints. The planchet is covered with microscopic roughness and verdigris that limits the gloss and there is a spot of greenish corrosion on the bust. A shallow planchet flaw reaches from the mouth to the rim and a smaller one cuts through the 1 in the date. Struck slightly off center to K-3 on the obverse, slightly more off center to K-10 on the reverse. The date is strong. The attribution and Twin Leaf provenance are noted on the PCGS label. Certification Number 686417.30/36857125

LOT 128 1787 Connecticut Miller 13-D R2 MBL VF25 . Choice glossy medium chocolate brown and steel. The planchet and surfaces are especially nice and the eye appeal of this piece is outstanding for the grade. The only notable marks are a tiny diagonal fissure on the chin, a trail of microscopic chips from the neck to the second C in CONNEC, and a collection of faint hairline scratches on the lower part of the seated figure. The small fissure on the chin is the only mark that catches your eye. Later die state with swelling in the field off the chin and a strong die break connecting the R in AUCTORI to the dentils above. Comes with a very nice provenance. Weight 113.6 grains.

LOT 126 1787 Connecticut Miller 11.2-K R2 MBL, PCGS graded XF45 . Glossy medium brown and light chocolate. The planchet is mostly smooth but there are tiny planchet chips on much of the portrait and top of the reverse, and there is a patch of fine corrosion with verdigris on the eye. Intermediate die state with a strong break CT and obvious die wear on the obverse devices. Struck slightly off center to K-2. Weight 152.7 grains. Comes with a nice provenance. The attribution and Robert M. Martin Collection provenance are noted on the PCGS label. Certification Number 686418.45/38407356
