LOT 121 1787 Connecticut Miller 7-I R6 MBL, the “Hercules Head,” NGC graded VF20 . Glossy chocolate brown. No corrosion or verdigris, but there are numerous fine planchet striations and voids, mostly on the obverse, plus an obvious rim dent at the shoulder and a scratch on the cheek. The reverse is much more attractive with a vertical void through the outstretched arm being the only significant mark. Much sharper than the Perkins and Taylor examples. The bottom of the date is off the planchet but the remainder is strong. Not perfect but not at all bad for this popular “Redbook” type. The attribution and Long Island Collection provenance are noted on the NGC label. Certification Number 6061902-010
LOT 123 1787 Connecticut Miller 9-D R5+ MBL, PCGS graded F12 . Glossy chocolate brown and steel. No corrosion or verdigris, but the obverse is softly struck, as always on this variety, with a mixture of tiny planchet chips and small nicks covering most of the portrait. However, the legends are complete and easily readable, much better than most of the variety. The reverse, in contrast, is smooth with strong devices and no marks. The best way to identify this piece is from the large curved planchet clip. Can’t miss this one. The bottom of the date is very slightly off the planchet but what remains is strong. The attribution and Twin Leaf provenance are noted on the PCGS label. Certification Number 686413.12/36857121

LOT 122 1787 Connecticut Miller 8-O R3 MBL, the “Tall Head,” NGC graded VF30 . Glossy medium brown and light chocolate with smooth, attractive surfaces. Just trivial marks and microscopic planchet fissures. The strike is stronger at the top of the obverse, weaker at the bottom causing weakness on the upper left quadrant of the reverse. Struck with the reverse rotated about 85 degrees clockwise relative to a normal head-to-foot die orientation. Weight 157.0 grains. The attribution and Donald G. Partrick Collection provenance are noted on the NGC label. Certification Number 2051332-032

LOT 124 1787 Connecticut Miller 11.1-E R2 MBL, PCGS graded VF35 . Glossy steel brown and light olive with lighter brown in some protected areas and reddish brown toning at the bust tip and AUC. Microscopic specks of verdigris show in the reddish area. Otherwise smooth with no planchet flaws or marks, just light wear. The date and legends are all bold. The attribution and Robert M. Martin Collection provenance are noted on the PCGS label. Certification Number 686417.35/38407354
