SUPERB “LAUGHING HEAD”
LOT 119 1787 Connecticut Miller 6.1-M R1 MBL, the “Laughing Head,” PCGS graded AU55 . Choice frosty medium brown with a swipe of reddish brown tucked along the left edge of the shield. Nicely centered with strong devices, a clear date, and no defects. There is a bit of soft dirt in protected areas on the reverse but the obverse is flawless. Later die state with die failure at AU. The attribution is noted on the PCGS label. Certification Number 686408.55/44796541

THE RARER “LAUGHING HEAD” VARIETY
LOT 120 1787 Connecticut Miller 6.2-M R5- MBL, the “Laughing Head,” PCGS graded AU50 . Glossy medium brown fading to chocolate in protected areas. Smooth and choice except for some obvious chipping along the edge at the top of the reverse (as struck). The obverse is flawless, just lightly worn on the devices. A premium example of this rare version of the “Laughing Head” type that enjoys its own listing in the “Redbook.” Weight 121.1 grains. The attribution and Sydney F.
