LOT 101 1786 Connecticut Miller 4.1-G R3 Mailed Bust Left (MBL) F15 . Frosty steel brown on the devices with light chocolate in the fields and protected areas. Considerably sharper, at least VF30, but there is a dull pinch on the edge at CT in AUCTORI and a dull scratch on the globe. Smaller contact marks are scattered over both sides, especially on the reverse. No planchet flaws and rather well centered, although the bottom of the date is slightly off the planchet. Otherwise the date is clear and the legends are strong. Weight 149.5 grains.
LOT 102 1786 Connecticut Miller 5.1-H.1 R6 MBL, PCGS graded VF30 . Frosty olive brown with lighter brown toning on the highpoints. A bit dull from very fine roughness but there are no contact marks or verdigris. A small planchet void at the waist of the seated figure is the only notable flaw. This example has far fewer planchet defects than the Ford and Taylor examples, but those are sharper. Late die state with an obvious bulge in the center of the obverse. The date is complete and easily readable but not strong. Weight 146.1 grains. The attribution and Twin Leaf provenance are noted on the PCGS label. Certification Number 686831.30/36857352

CHOICE LATE STATE 1786 M.5.2-I
LOT 103 1786 Connecticut Miller 5.2-I R4 MBL, PCGS graded XF40 . Choice glossy medium brown with smooth, very attractive surfaces. Virtually flawless, just worn. The planchet quality on this piece is far above average. A few microscopic planchet flakes on the swollen spot at UC in AUCTORI and the opposing area at DE in INDE are the only defects, and they are trivial. Late die state with heavy swelling at UC in AUCTORI. Struck from slightly misaligned dies: both sides off a bit to the bottom leaving the bottom of the date off the planchet. Comes with a nice provenance. Weight 121.2 grains. The attribution and Robert M. Martin Collection provenance are noted on the PCGS label. Certification Number 686833.40/38155498
Ex Steven L. Tanenbaum, Stack’s 1/25/2012:7102-Robert M. Martin Collection, Stack’s Bowers 11/15/2019:5095-the Copper Mountain Collection (includes the Martin collection envelope and lot ticket)
