LOT 95

1785 Connecticut Miller 6.3-G.1 R3 MBR, PCGS graded AU53 . Beautiful glossy medium chocolate brown with lighter brown on the highpoints. Traces of frost show in protected areas. No contact marks or planchet flaws, but softly struck in the centers as often seen on this variety. Later die state with swelling before the nose and mouth and stronger swelling through the outstretched arm on the reverse. The die flaws at the top of the reverse are well advanced. An impressive Connecticut in a neat die state, and it comes with a nice provenance. The attribution and Ford provenance are noted on the PCGS label. Intermediate die state with a wave through the second N in CONNEC and obvious swelling at the outstretched arm of the seated figure. The date is bold. Struck slightly off center to K-6. Another beautiful Connecticut copper. Removed from a PCGS holder graded AU50 (PCGS label #316.50/26748968 included). Weight 134.5 grains.
