NICELY PEDIGREED N-10 WITH CUD
LOT 614 1838 N-10 R1 MS60+ . Lustrous light bluish steel brown with puffs of slightly lighter brown at stars 1-3. Satiny mint frost covers this cent and the eye appeal is excellent. The notable marks are a fine diagonal scratch over star 3 and a trio of light rim nicks at the first A in AMERICA. MDS, Grellman state d, with a small but clearly defined rim cud at ME in AMERICA in addition to the double crack to the right side of the M. Removed from a PCGS holder graded MS64BN (PCGS label #1741.64/21220886 included). Graded MS62 and tied for CC#8 in the Noyes census, his photo #58234. A neat die state, and it comes with a nice provenance.

LOT 616 1838 N-11/13 R2 NGC graded AU58 . Mostly glossy medium chocolate brown with frosty lighter brown in protected areas. Lightly worn with nice eye appeal except for a couple areas of very fine carbon, mostly at D-S into the leaves below. M-LDS, Grellman state b, with flowlined fields and the point from the leaf tip over the O in ONE is gone (this is Newcomb’s #11). Our grade is EF45+ sharpness net EF40+. LOT 615 1838 N-11/13 R2 NGC graded MS63 Brown . Lustrous light bluish steel brown with traces of mellowed mint red on both sides, mostly on the reverse. Sharp and satiny. The only defects are two small specks of carbon at the right top of the wreath, the largest off the right end of the base of the F in OF. E-MDS, Grellman state a, with lightly flowlined fields. The point from the end of the leaf over the O in ONE is clear. This is Newcomb’s #11. Our grade is MS62. Certification Number 5710114-001

LOT 617 1838 N-11/13 R2 VF30 . Sharper but the reverse is covered with small contact marks mixed with tiny planchet flakes, strongest outside the wreath. The largest flake is on the right side of the M in AMERICA. The obverse, however, is smooth. Glossy light olive brown. M-LDS, Grellman state b. The fields are flowlined and the point from the leaf over the O in ONE is gone. This is Newcomb’s #11.
