EARLY CENTS AUCTIONS

LOT 605 1838 N-1 R1 Repunched 1 MS63 . Very attractive lustrous light steel brown with a very subtle streak of slightly darker toning just left of star 13. Sharply struck with just a couple trivial marks including a tick on the coronet over the B and a spot of slightly lighter tan toning resting on top of the hair bun. M-LDS, Grellman state e, with clearly defined rim cuds under the 18, at star 1, over star 5, and from over star 6 nearly to star 8. The multiple repunching at the peak of the 1 is clear. Removed from a PCGS holder graded MS63BN (PCGS label #1741.63/11379979 included).

LOT 603 1837 N-16 R3 Plain Hair Cord, Medium Letters, PCGS graded MS61 Brown . Frosty light to medium brown with traces of lighter golden tan in protected areas. There is a puff of reddish brown toning at star 6 and two smaller ones over the eye. A small planchet chip on the jaw is the only other notable mark. E-MDS with very fine die flowlines from the dentils on the obverse, and the dentils are clear around that side. Our grade is AU50+. Comes with a very nice provenance. (There is a scratch on the reverse of the holder.). Certification Number 37174.61/45686804

LOT 606 1838 N-2 R1 AU50 . Frosty steel brown and chocolate. Sharp and satiny with very nice eye appeal. Just a few small marks including a tick on the rim right of star 12, a very light scuff left of star 12, and a shallow planchet flake on the rim at the first A in AMERICA (as struck). M-LDS, Grellman state b late, with only traces of the inner circle from over star 6 to beyond star 8.

LOT 604 1837 N-17 R4 Plain Hair Cord, Medium Letters AU50 . Frosty light steel brown with satiny mint luster in the fields and protected areas, especially on the reverse. Smooth and sharp with just a few small marks including a small nick on the jaw, a tick on the nose, a dull rim nick at star 9, and another at the E in UNITED. E-MDS, Grellman state e, with die cracks on both sides and a narrow rim cud from star 5 to star 6.

LOT 607 1838 N-3 R1 EF45+ . Glossy tan and light brown. The fields are hard and slightly reflective thanks to the early die state, and this cent has great eye appeal. Just minor marks including some flakes on the rim from star 1 to star 2 and a dull nick hidden tight under the E in CENT. EDS, Grellman state a, with six nearly vertical die lines under the right side of the O in ONE.
