LOT 598 1837 N-11 R1 Head of 1838, Repunched 1 AU58 . Very attractive glossy light olive brown and chocolate. Sharp with just a hint of rub on the highpoints. The only mark is a thin nick under star 8. Sharply struck E-MDS, Grellman state a late. The repunching left of the 1 is clear but the dash right of the base is weak. A beautiful cent, so close to mint state.
LOT 601 1837 N-14 R2 Plain Hair Cord, Medium Letters VF30 . Very attractive glossy light brown. Slightly sharper but there are some small contact marks including a diagonal nick over the N in ONE, a small dig over the N in CENT, and a scuff on D-STATES that exposed a bit of raw copper. MDS with the usual die cracks on both sides.

LOT 599 1837 N-12 R3 Head of 1838, Repunched 8 AU50 . The “Accessory E” variety. Glossy light brown and steel with traces of mellowed mint red in protected areas, mostly on the reverse. Looks mint state but there is some rub on the devices. The only mark is a dull but obvious rim nick at the E in AMERICA. Otherwise this cent would rate a higher grade. E-MDS, Grellman state a. The repunching at the left base of the 8 is clear. The stray E punched into the leaves below the E in AMERICA is strong.

LOT 600 1837 N-13 R2 Plain Hair Cord, Medium Letters MS60+ . Lustrous light bluish steel brown. Satiny and very attractive. There are a few marks including a patch of very fine reddish corrosion hidden on the lowest curl, a couple small nicks over the B in LIBERTY, and a small, dark stain with microscopic carbon at the top of the C in CENT. LDS, Grellman state c, with rather strong flowlines on both sides. The earlier repunching at the left base of the N in UNITED is gone. Removed from a PCGS holder graded MS64BN (PCGS label #1732.64/21594170 included).
LOT 602 1837 N-15 R3 Plain Hair Cord, Medium Letters VF30 . Sharpness near EF40 but there is a scuff of light scratches on the face and a few small ticks in the field before the nose. A shallow planchet flake at the bottom of the ribbon loop can identify this cent. Otherwise this cent is choice and the eye appeal remains excellent. Glossy light to medium brown with steel brown toning on the highpoints. Sharply struck EDS, Grellman state a, before the second die crack up from star 4.
