SHARP 1836 N-7 GOBRECHT HEAD

LOT 585 1836 N-5 R3 PCGS graded MS63 Brown . Frosty light to medium brown with traces of golden tan faded down from mint color in protected areas, especially on the reverse. The surfaces are satiny and the only marks are a small spot of darker toning (not carbon) near the dentils over the left side of star 8 and another on a leaf under the right foot of the M in AMERICA. MDS, Grellman state e, with a small but clearly defined rim cud that covers 3 dentils below star 1. The luster is a bit subdued by a thin layer of natural oxidation. Our grade is MS60. The attribution and Twin Leaf-Wachtel provenance are noted on the PCGS label. Certification Number 37123.63/30999581

LOT 587 1836 N-7 R4 PCGS graded AU58 . Lustrous light steel brown with satiny surfaces and very sharp details. Looks mint state but there is a trace of friction on the very highest points of the devices. A shallow but noticeable planchet void at star 6 (as struck) and a speck of darker toning over the right side of the U in UNITED are the only marks. MDS, Grellman state b, with a fine die crack at TED ST but before the rim cud over D-STA. Our grade is AU55. Another beautiful example of the Gobrecht Head type (limited to 1836 N-6 & 7 which use the same obverse die). Comes with a nice provenance. Certification Number 1726.58/29664183

LDS, Grellman state h, with a cud break over star 8 and fine die cracks on the reverse. A nice example of the “Gobrecht Head” style. Our grade is AU50. Certification Number 1726.55/84309983
