 CHOICE 1835 N-19 RARITY

LOT 580 1835 N-19 R5 Head of 1836 VF30 . Choice glossy medium steel brown with frosty lighter brown in some protected areas on the reverse. Smooth and essentially flawless with great eye appeal for the grade. A tiny tick on the left foot of the E in STATES is the best identifying mark, and you need a good glass to see it. Probably CC#6 for this tough variety.

LOT 581 1836 N-1 R1+ VF35 . Glossy light to medium brown with frost covering the protected areas. A small spot of darker brown toning over star 4 and a light vertical scratch right of star 1 are the only notable marks. LDS, Grellman state d, with several fine die cracks including bisecting die cracks on both sides.

LOT 583 1836 N-3 R1 AU58 . Lustrous light bluish steel brown. Satiny and very attractive with just a hint of rub on the highpoints. The only notable mark is a nick-like planchet void on the cheek, and it is quite shallow. LDS, Grellman state c, with satiny fields and a cud break at star 6.

LOT 584 1836 N-4 R3 EF45 . Glossy light to medium brown with slightly darker steel brown toning on the highpoints and frosty golden tan in protected areas. The only notable defect is a shallow planchet flake at the right point of star 6, as struck. M-LDS, Grellman state c, with 5 radial die cracks on the reverse and a thin rim cud break in the dentils from star 1 to star 2.

LOT 582 1836 N-2 R2 AU50 . Sharpness close to mint state with just a hint of friction on the very highest points of the devices, but there are some small contact marks on the obverse. The notable marks are a dull nick on the coronet over BE, a pinprick in the field off the chin, another off the end of the nose, a nick on the earlobe, and several tiny ticks on the cheek. Frosty light to medium steel brown. The surfaces are satiny and the eye appeal is quite nice. M-LDS, Grellman state d, with a bisecting die crack on the reverse.
