EARLY CENTS AUCTIONS

LOT 575 1835 N-13 R4 Small Date, Stars, & Letters VF25 . Sharpness EF40 or slightly better but covered with fine roughness under dark olive brown and steel toning. No verdigris and the only notable mark is a small, irregular scratch right of star 4. The surfaces are a bit dull but flowline frost does show in protected areas on the reverse. MDS, Grellman state c, with a small triangular lump under the 83 but without the impressed dentils near the wreath above the N in ONE.

LOT 578 1835 N-16 R2 Head of 1836, PCGS graded AU55 . Lustrous medium steel brown with slightly darker olive brown toning before the face. The fields are satiny and there are peeps of mint red in recesses on the portrait. There is very little actual wear on this cent but the strike along the top of the portrait is a bit weak, as often seen on this variety. The only notable mark is a rather obvious planchet void on the rim at the second A in AMERICA. E-MDS with very fine radial die flowlines in the fields near the dentils. There is an obvious double profile from the forehead down to the chin with additional doubling on the lower stars, and traces of a third profile show on the lips, chin, and stars 11 & 12. Our grade is EF45+. The attribution and Twin Leaf Collection provenance are noted on the PCGS label. Certification Number 37069.55/32847883
