BEAUTIFUL 1835 N-11 EX REIVER
LOT 573 1835 N-11 R4+ Small Date, Stars, & Letters EF40 . The obverse is glossy chocolate and steel brown; the reverse is glossy light brown and golden tan with steel brown on the highpoints. The surfaces are smooth and there are only trivial contact marks. A small puff of medium chocolate brown toning at the D in UNITED and two microscopic planchet flakes near the dentils right of star 6 (as struck) can help identify this cent. EDS, Grellman state a, with smooth, slightly reflective fields on both sides and no radial crack to the dentils from the top of the U in UNITED. Removed from an NGC holder graded AU55 (NGC label #308054 015 included, and it shows the attribution and Reiver Collection provenance).

EQUAL THIRD FINEST 1835 N-12
LOT 574 1835 N-12 R4 Small Date, Stars, & Letters EF40+ . Glossy olive brown and chocolate with a spot of lighter golden tan toning near the hair below star 8. Sharpness AU50 but there are some marks including a fine planchet lamination line through the nostril down to the neck (as struck), small ticks on the jaw, a larger nick in the field off the chin, a scrape or void on star 13, and a dent at the right foot of the second A in AMERICA. In addition there are some rough marks on the rim at stars 1, 6, & 13. EDS, Grellman state a, with slightly reflective fields on the obverse and without the radial crack to the dentils from near star 9. Not perfect but sharp with nice eye appeal; tied for CC#3 in our opinion (#2 is in the ANS Collection).
Ex Thomas D. Reynolds 3/20/2021-Al Nelson Collection (includes the Reynolds sales envelope)
