RARE 1830 N-9
LOT 529 1830 N-9 R6- VG7 . Sharpness near F12 but there is fine to moderate corrosion on the obverse, strongest from the date to star 13. The reverse is smooth and quite nice with just a few tiny pits at the end of the wreath stem. Mostly glossy chocolate and medium brown with reddish toning in the corroded areas on the obverse; the reverse is a more uniform glossy light to medium chocolate brown. Struck with the reverse slightly misaligned to the bottom, as usual for this variety.

LOT 530 1830 N-10 R4+ F15 . Sharpness at least VF30 but covered with uniform fine granularity under slightly glossy dark olive brown and steel toning. No verdigris or notable contact marks. M-LDS, Grellman state b late, with a slightly raised retained cud break over ATES. The left end of the cud is clearly raised while the right end is not.
LOT 532 1831 N-1 R1 Large Letters VF35 . Sharper but lightly cleaned and nicely retoned glossy light brown. Smooth with trivial marks, mostly small rim nicks around the obverse including a rather obvious one over star 8 and a small rim bruise under star 1. MDS, Grellman state a, before the rim cud below star 1. There is a fine double profile on the forehead, lips, and chin.

LOT 531 1830 N-11 R5 VG8 . Sharpness near F12 but covered with uniform microscopic roughness under slightly glossy dark steel and olive brown toning. No verdigris but the obverse is covered with microscopic hairlines that are lost in the toning. A barely visible rim bruise at the M in AMERICA can help identify this cent. Late die state. The radial crack from the right top of the E in UNITED is strong and the reverse is misaligned to the bottom.
LOT 533 1831 N-2 R2 Small Letters AU50+ . Frosty tan and light steel brown. Sharp with satiny surfaces and great eye appeal. Just a light touch of friction on the highpoints, very close to AU55. A spot of darker toning close under the chin and another left of star 3 are the only notable marks. MDS, Grellman state b, with a narrow but clearly defined rim cud from star 6 to star 7.
