 WRIGHT PLATE COIN

LOT 428 1819 N-10 R4 AU55 . Lustrous light steel brown. Satiny and very attractive with just a light touch of friction on the highest points of the devices. Just a few minor marks including a tiny scratch on the throat, a nick-like planchet void under the right point of star 12, and a couple ticks under the right side of star 7. The rim on the obverse is a bit uneven thanks to the late die state, and the impression on that side has the look of a “broadstrike.” LDS, Grellman state c. The bottom of the C in CENT is gone as are nearly all of the dentils due to die wear and lapping. At the lower end of the condition census. Removed from a PCGS holder graded MS62BN (PCGS label #36655.62/32847895 included, and it shows the attribution and Twin Leaf Collection provenance). This is the Wright plate coin for the variety and it comes with a nice provenance. Ex C. A. Delmuth-R. S. “Robbie” Brown, Jr., Superior 9/30/1986:526-Stuart A. LOT 429 1820/19 N-1 R1 Overdate Large 20 over 19 VF25+ . Ten points sharper but there are too many light contact marks for the sharpness grade. Glossy medium steel brown with darker steel brown on the highpoints and frosty lighter steel brown in protected areas. The notable marks are a minor rim bruise at star 11, two more at CA in AMERICA, and a short scratch at the first S in STATES. E-MDS, Grellman state a. Repunching is visible on the 1 & 8 and the undertype 1 at the 2 is strong.

LOT 430 1820/19 N-2 R2 Overdate Small 20 over 19, PCGS graded AU58 . Frosty medium brown and light chocolate mixed with reddish brown toning on the obverse. Satiny mint luster shows in the fields and protected areas on the reverse. There is just a touch of friction on the highpoints but traces of extremely fine roughness show on the portrait, mostly at RTY into the hair below. Traces of verdigris can be found in a few protected areas around the portrait. A shallow low spot at the first S in STATES is the only notable mark (as struck). MDS, Grellman state b. There are flowlines in the obverse fields and traces of fine die rust on the portrait, but the overdate feature is still clearly visible on both digits. Our grade is AU50. The overdate feature is noted on the PCGS label. Certification Number 1618.58/46965052
