LOT 404 1817 N-17 R4 VF25 . Sharpness EF45 with crisp details but the toning is dark steel and olive. Uniform very fine roughness covers the planchet and verdigris is caked into protected areas, mostly on the obverse. No marks or other defects, and hints of underlying mint frost show in the fields, mostly on the reverse. MDS, Grellman state e, with die cracks on the reverse and the right top of the first T in STATES clearly raised towards the dentils. One of the sharpest known of this tough variety.

LOT 402 1817 N-15 R4 PCGS graded AU55, CAC Approved . Glossy tan and light brown blending to medium steel brown on the highpoints. Frosty mint luster shows in the fields and protected areas, and this cent has outstanding eye appeal. The only notable marks are a couple unobtrusive nicks on the neck. MDS, Grellman die state b, with die clashmarks on both sides and a dull crack through stars 1-3. Our grade is EF45. A very nice example of a relatively tough die variety. The attribution and Tucker Collection provenance are noted on the PCGS label. Certification Number 36592.55/81765964

LOT 405 Large Lot of 102 Large Cents, 1817-1856 . Many are damaged but most have an easily readable date. Inspection recommended. Lot of 102 coins.

LOT 403 1817 N-16 R1 15-Star Obverse VF30 . Glossy light olive brown with traces of lighter brown in protected areas on the obverse. Mint frost covers the protected areas on both sides and there is no trace of corrosion or verdigris. Would rate a higher grade but there are some tiny nicks scattered over both sides, none notable but far too many to ignore at this level of sharpness. A very light rim bruise over the right side of the M in AMERICA is the best identifying mark. Sharp EDS, Grellman state a, with smooth, hard fields on both sides and no rim cud at AM.

LOT 406 1818 N-1 R2 AU50+ . Frosty steel brown with peeps of golden tan in protected areas, especially on the reverse. An attractive, lustrous cent, satiny and virtually flawless with mint state eye appeal in spite of touch of rub on the highest points of the devices. A very light rim bruise at AM is the only notable mark, and it is barely visible. MDS, Grellman state b, showing fine radial die flowlines in the fields and tiny crumbles on the rim between stars 3 & 4. The obverse is slightly misaligned to K-10 while the reverse is nearly centered on the planchet. Near the lower end of the condition census for this variety. Removed from an NGC holder graded MS62BN (NGC label #1667675-015 included).
