EARLY CENTS AUCTIONS

 CHOICE 1817

yes LOT 236 1817 Overton-110a R2 MS60. Lustrous light gray with bluish steel overtones, especially at the bottom of the reverse. Satiny and very attractive. Later die state but not the latest. There are die clashmarks on both sides and cracks on the obverse, but the crack through ERICA and beyond has not formed. There is fine doubling on the end of .the nose, the nostril, and on the lips.

LOT 239 1818 Overton-113 R3 EF40+. Glossy medium gray with frosty lighter silver in protected areas. Sharply struck with smooth surfaces and nice eye appeal. There are a few marks including a tiny rim bruise above star 8, another at star 13, and a couple more under 181. Otherwise this piece would rate a higher grade.

LOT 237 1818/7 Overdate 8 over 7, Overton-101 R1 EF40. Variety with the large first 8. Glossy medium gray and steel with frosty lighter silver in protected areas. Nicely struck with light wear on the devices. A tiny pin prick under the second 1 is the only mark. The overdate feature is bold.
