 CHOICE RED & BROWN

LOT 858 1850 N-21/10 R2 MS63+. Lustrous mint red fading to light steel brown with about 40% of the obverse and 25% of the reverse showing faded mint color. The surfaces are satiny and the only marks are a few microscopic specks of carbon at stars 9 & 10. LDS, die state c, with rim cuds at TES and F-A (Newcomb’s old #10). The cud breaks are especially strong on this example. Another very nice cent.

Slightly sharper but there are a couple ticks on the cheek and a tiny rim bruise right of star 10. LDS, die state d. The early die lines are gone and a dull die crack connects the tip of the coronet to star 5 (Newcomb’s old #11).
