EARLY CENTS AUCTIONS

LOT 835 1848 N-3 R2 Repunched Date VF25. Glossy medium brown blending to light olive brown. There are a few small marks in the field off the chin and shallow dirt in protected areas. Nicely struck EDS+, die state a late. The repunching is clear on all 4 digits of the date.

LOT 838 1848 N-10 R3 EF45+. Very attractive frosty tan and light brown with steel brown toning on the highpoints. Sharp with very little friction on the highpoints, close to AU50. The only mark is a small diagonal nick just right of the upper lip. VEDS, die state a early. The fields are hard and all the fine die lines are sharp. The reverse is uncracked (a rare die state for the variety).

LOT 839 1848 N-10 R3 VF30. Five points sharper but there is a rim bruise at star 4. Otherwise smooth with trivial marks and nice eye appeal. Glossy light to medium brown with light olive on the highpoints. M-LDS, die state c. The field around UNITED STA is sinking

LOT 836 1848 N-4 R4 Boldly Repunched Date VF25+. Glossy medium brown blending to light olive and chocolate on the reverse. Smooth with light wear and minor marks including a couple nicks low on the neck. M-LDS, die state b. The repunching is no longer visible inside the triangle of the 4 but it is clearly visible on lower half of all 4 digits.

LOT 840 1848 N-15 R5 VF25. Ten points sharper but covered with extremely fine granularity. No verdigris and the only notable contact mark is a small nick low on the cheek. The toning is an attractive and slightly glossy light to medium brown. Sharply struck EDS, die state a, before any die cracks.

LOT 837 1848 N-5 R4 Second 8 Repunched VF30. Sharpness EF45 but there are traces of very fine verdigris on both sides. Just a few contact marks including two nicks on the neck. Mostly glossy mix of brown, chocolate, reddish chocolate, and darker olive brown. Sharply struck M-LDS, die state e, with die cracks on the reverse but no rim cud. The repunching right of the base of the second 8 is sharp.

LOT 841 1848 N-17 R1 Repunched Date EF40. Five points sharper but there are some tiny nicks on the obverse, mostly on the jaw and neck. Otherwise quite nice with sharp details and attractive frosty tan and medium brown toning. E-MDS, die state b. Repunching is still visible inside the triangle of the 4.
