LOT 779 1843 N-8 R3 Type of 1842, Repunched 184 VF35. Slightly sharper with a few small contact marks right of star 2. Otherwise choice with smooth surfaces and very attractive glossy medium chocolate brown toning. E-MDS, die state a late, with just a hint of crumbling under the nose. The repunching on the 184 is clear.

LOT 782 1843 N-16 R4 Type of 1844 VF35. At least 5 points sharper with too many small contact marks on the obverse for the higher grade. There are small ticks on the cheek, a dull nick in the field off the end of the nose, and a dull scratch before the chin. Glossy light to medium brown with frost in protected areas. E-MDS with fine flowlines in the fields.

LOT 780 1843 N-11 R2- Type of 1842 VF30. Ten points sharper but recolored glossy olive brown. The toning is attractive and the surfaces are smooth with trivial marks. M-LDS, die state c. The crack on the reverse now extends inside the wreath but it does not yet reach the T in CENT.

LOT 783 1843 N-16 R4 Mature Head F15+. Glossy olive and steel brown. Smooth with even wear and minor marks. A diagonal nick close to the chin is a good identifying mark. MDS. All the attribution points are clear.

LOT 781 1843 N-15 R2+ Type of 1842 VF20. Ten points sharper with too many contact marks for the sharpness grade. The notable marks are a diagonal nick left of star 12, a shallow scuff right of star 6, another in the dentils over star 10, and a rim nick over the E in UNITED. Glossy medium brown and light chocolate. Looks nicer than it may sound. Sharply struck EDS, die state a. The fine die line inside the right top of the N in ONE is clear.
