 FINEST TERMINAL STATE N-4

LOT 701 1855 N-4 R1 Upright 55 MS62+. Lustrous light to medium olive with 5-10% of the mint red remaining, mostly on the reverse. A choice cent, essentially flawless with great eye appeal. A microscopic planchet flake over the right side of star 2 and a couple light ticks on the coronet over the I & R in LIBERTY are the best identifying marks. TDS, die state g, with rim cuds over STATES and OF. Finest known of the latest die state in the Grellman census.

LOT 702 1855 N-5 R5 Upright 55 VF35. Slightly sharper with some small nicks on the obverse and a spot of fine carbon on the rim at star 13. Glossy medium brown with frost in protected areas. MDS, die state a late. The die line from the lowest curl to star 10 is visible close to the curl but fades out before reaching the star.

 FINEST EARLY STATE N-6

LOT 703 1855 N-6 R3 Upright 55 MS60+. Lustrous light olive with 5% of the obverse and 50% of the reverse showing mint red. The red on the reverse is bright. A choice cent except for two nicks on the jawline and a spot of microscopic carbon at the left top of the E in CENT. Rare EDS, die state a, with a dull dash left from the base of the 1. Tied for CC#5 of the variety in the Grellman census but finest of the early die state.
