EARLY CENTS AUCTIONS
LOT 608 1852 N-16 R1 PCGS graded MS64 Brown, CAC Approved. Frosty medium brown. Satiny luster covers the fields and protected areas and the eye appeal of this cent is excellent. No spots or stains. The only defects are a shallow low spot on the lower half of the neck (caused by debris on the die) and a dull nick in the middle of the eyebrow (which does not catch your eye). E-MDS, die state a. The fields are covered with microscopic radial die flowlines but the fine die line inside the E in ONE remains visible. Tiny lumps from die rust show on many of the devices on the reverse, as always seen on this variety. Our grade is MS60. The attribution and Iskra Collection provenance are noted on the PCGS label. 147269.64/81161854
LOT 609 1852 N-16 R1 AU55. A frosty mint state cent that has very nice eye appeal except for a spot of very shallow reddish corrosion at star 12. The only contact marks are a couple faint hairlines in the field left of star 11. Lustrous medium steel brown with traces of faded mint red, especially on the reverse. LDS, die state b. Numerous small lumps from die rust are scattered over the reverse and the fine line inside the bottom of the E in ONE is gone.

NEAR GEM RED & BROWN N-17
LOT 610 1852 N-17 R1 Repunched 1 MS64+. Frosty mint red fading to light steel brown on the devices with about two-thirds of the faded mint color remaining. Lustrous with sharp details and great eye appeal. A gem cent except for a few trivial marks including a tiny, light scratch at the upper left point of star 1 and a couple tiny specks of darker toning at star 10. M-LDS, die state c. The fields are flowlined and the repunching below the base of the 1 that is present in the earlier states is gone. A beautiful cent, CC#5 in the Grellman census. And it comes with a great provenance.
