LOT 589 1852 N-1/2 R1 Repunched 185 MS60. Lustrous medium steel brown with very faded red in protected areas. Satiny and nearly choice except for a spot of reddish corrosion in the field under the chin. The spot of corrosion is quite small but it is surrounded by a halo of dark steel toning. MDS, die state b. The repunching below the first 1 is dull but visible and there are fine die cracks on the obverse. This is Newcomb’s #1.

LOT 591 1852 N-4 R1 MS62+. Lustrous light olive with subtle overtones of light bluish steel in the fields and peeps of very faded mint red in some protected areas. Choice except for a few microscopic specks of carbon on the obverse including one under the right foot of the 1 plus a rim nick or planchet chip over the second T in STATES. M-LDS, die state b, with flowlined fields on both sides and a die crack on the reverse. Tied for CC#6 in the Grellman census. Comes with a nice provenance.

LOT 590 1852 N-3 R1 MS63. Choice lustrous light olive and steel brown with faded mint red in protected areas on both sides. Satiny and very attractive, nearly flawless. A microscopic tick on the chin and another right of star 2 are the best identifying marks. M-LDS, die state b, with a fine die crack through TE in UNITED to the wreath. Struck with the reverse rotated 45 degrees CCW. Tied for CC#9 in the Grellman census. A nice cent with a nice provenance.

LOT 592 1852 N-5 R2 MS60. Glossy medium brown and chocolate. Flowline luster covers the fields and protected areas and this cent has excellent eye appeal. Just a couple trivial marks including a barely visible horizontal nick on the cheek and another in the field before the nose. Sharply struck E-MDS, die state a. The fine die lines from the dentils under star 13 are weak but visible and the fields show microscopic die flowlines. Tied for CC#7 in the Grellman census.
