Fred 2 Book
LOT 868 1851 N-30 R2 AU50. A lustrous cent that is very close to mint state but there are some small marks, mostly planchet flakes on the rims and in the dentils (as struck). Otherwise just a few ticks on the nostril, a thin nick high on the neck, and a line of ticks over star 12. Glossy light to medium brown with traces of faded mint red on the reverse. MDS, die state b. The point from the throat is gone but the ones from the top of ENT are still visible.
LOT 870 1852 N-4 R1 EF40. Glossy light to medium olive and steel brown. The surfaces are smooth and flowline luster shows in the fields and protected areas. A small, dull nick on the edge right of star 10 is the only notable mark. M-LDS, die state b, with flowlined fields and a vertical die crack touching the base of the U in UNITED.

LOT 869 1851 N-38 R1 AU50. Glossy light to medium brown with mint frost in the fields and protected areas. Just light friction on the highpoints and trivial marks. A choice cent with the eye appeal of a higher grade. MDS, die state a late. The fields are lightly flowlined and the points down from the base of the E in CENT are still visible.
LOT 871 1852 N-5 R2 AU55. A frosty mint state cent that has a tiny rim nick at star 6, a small planchet flake at the dentils under the 5, and a spot of fine reddish brown corrosion at NI in UNITED. The surfaces are satiny and the eye appeal is nice in spite of the minor defects. Sharply struck E-MDS, die state a. The fine die lines from the dentils under star 13 are weak but still visible.

CC#4 of 12 examples known with the 2 rim cuds in the Grellman census.
