EARLY CENTS AUCTIONS
LOT 876 1852 N-11 R1 AU50+. Very close to mint state but light cleaned and nicely retoned glossy olive brown and medium chocolate with some frosty lighter steel brown in protected areas. A tiny tick on the nostril may help identify this cent. M-LDS, die state d, with flowlined fields. The earlier spur at the dentils over the U is gone but there are no rim cuds.
LOT 873 1852 N-6 R2- EF45. Choice glossy medium chocolate brown and olive. Smooth and very attractive with only trivial marks including a speck of dark reddish crud on the jawline. E-MDS, die state a, with lightly flowlined fields and no rim cud.

LOT 877 1852 N-11 R1 VF30. Ten points sharper with several fine hairline scratches from the cheek into the field over star 2, plus a pinprick in the field close off the tip of the nose. Only the pinprick is visible to the unaided eye. Glossy chocolate brown and steel. TDS, die state e2, with a strong rim cud break over TES-O. Tied for CC#9 of those known with the complete cud break. Comes with a nice provenance.
LOT 874 1852 N-6 R2- AU50+. Very close to mint state with a hint of friction on the very highest points of the devices, but there are traces of soft dirt in some of the protected areas, mostly on the reverse. No marks or other defects and this cent has great eye appeal. So close to AU55. LDS, die state c, with a large rim cud from just below star 10 to star 12. Comes with a nice provenance.

LOT 878 1852 N-12/13 R1 Repunched 18 EF45. Ten points sharper with a nick hidden in the hair above TY plus some smaller nicks at BER (also not visible without a glass). The only other marks are a couple faint scratches above and below CENT, also not visible to the unaided eye. So the eye appeal of this cent is really nice. Lustrous medium brown and light chocolate with frosty lighter steel brown in protected areas. E-MDS, die state a late. The fields are lightly flowlined but the repunching on the 18 is still visible on the 1. The obverse die is uncracked. Struck with the reverse rotated 20 degrees CCW. (This is Newcomb’s #12.)
LOT 875 1852 N-6 R2- VF35. Glossy light brown. Lightly worn with no notable defects other than some dirt in protected areas. A small, dull rim nick at the U in UNITED is the only notable mark. LDS, die state c, with a large rim cud from just below star 10 down to star 12.
