EARLY AMERICAN COPPER SOCIETY AUCTION 2025
LOT 230 1800 S-208 R3 NGC graded F12, MINT ERROR . Rather glossy dark steel brown with frosty lighter brown in protected areas. Smooth with trivial marks including a very light rim bruise at D-S and a thin nick on the T in UNITED. LDS, Breen state III, with a strong cud break connecting TY to the edge, and this cud extends along the rim to even with the end of the nose. There is clear doubling on the devices at the bottom of the wreath. Our grade is VG10+, close to F12. The attribution and MINT ERROR feature are noted on the NGC label. (This is not a mint error, just a neat die state.) 2038617-046
LOT 228 1800 S-203 R3 VG7 . Several points sharper but covered with fine roughness mixed with some light scratches that are hidden in the toning. Rather glossy olive brown and steel with lighter brown on the devices. The notable marks are a nick off the upper lip, a fine scratch from the E into the hair at the ear, and a minor rim bruise just right of the second S in STATES. Rare EDS, Breen state II, with light die clashmarks on the reverse.

LOT 231 1800/1798 NC-6 R-6+ NGC Good Details (Damaged) . G5 sharpness but lightly porous with a dent on the edge near U in UNITED and a notable scratch at ES in STATES. Trivial mark sotherwise, the legends are fully readable and the strogner date and overdate feature is clear on this rare variety. Called G6 net AG3 and TCC#13-15 by Noyes, his photo #68224. Our grade is G5 net AG3. 2038617-025
LOT 229 1800 S-208 R3 VG10 . Sharpness EF40 or slightly better but damaged by banging it into another coin (not another large cent) leaving deep dents arcing from the neck to the bust. The dents show incuse dentils plus at least one incuse star (which rules out the second large cent; the size of the arcs and presence of a star suggest a half dollar). Additional dents show at OF-AMER and that area of the planchet is bent. On the other hand the details of this S-208 are really sharp and there is very little wear on the devices. Frosty olive and steel brown. E-MDS, Breen state II, with a small cud break over the right top of the T in TY.
