EARLY AMERICAN COPPER SOCIETY AUCTION 2025

LOT 223 1800 S-202 R4+ G5+ . Glossy chocolate brown and steel with slightly lighter steel brown on the devices. Unevenly worn due to the significant die failures. Attractive for the grade, just worn with trivial marks. MDS, Breen state II late, with obvious swelling at the lower curls and D-STATE. Otherwise the date and legends are clear.

LOT 220 1800/179 S-192 R3 Overdate 180 over 179 VG10 . Slightly sharper with too many nicks for the sharpness grade. A dull nick or dent over the E in CENT is the best identifying mark. Slightly glossy dark olive brown and steel with underlying faint granularity in the fields and protected areas. EDS, Breen state I, without any die cracks. The 80 over 79 feature is clear.

LOT 224 1800 S-202 R4+ G6 . Glossy chocolate brown and steel. Smooth with trivial marks, just worn. The only notable marks are two small pits near the rim at the bust and a dull vertical nick on the 8. LDS, Breen state VI early, with heavy swelling at the lower curls and ED-STATES with lighter swelling at AM. The legends not affected by the swelling show details consistent with a much higher grade.

LOT 221 1800 S-198 R-5+ CC#2 PCGS VG08 . Pleasing glossy medium brown with a few scattered contact marks. Those marks include a a faint horizontal pin scratch before the neck in the right obverse field, and minor rim bruises at 9 o’clock on the obverse, N and T in UNITED, and TES in STATES. Smooth, attractive surfaces with great eye appeal on this rare variety. Tied for CC#1 in Bland’s census. Called VG10 net VG8 and CC#2 by Noyes, his photo #34437. Our grade is consistent with PCGS . 36182.08/47954243
