LOT 191 1797 S-137 R2 VF25+ . Glossy light chocolate with slightly darker steel brown toning on the highpoints. Smooth with trivial contact marks including a fine hairline from the mouth to the dentils before the chin and a tiny scratch at the left foot of the E in CENT. LDS, Breen state VII, with die cracks on both sides and swelling on the reverse, strongest at RICA. A nice cent, close to VF30.
LOT 195 1797 NC-1 R-7- Reverse of 1796, Plain Edge G4 . Near VG sharpness but lightly porous, mostly in the fields and protected areas. Free of notable marks. Olive brown with lighter tan on the high points giving a nice contrast. A challenging NC variety, all but one of which grade lower than VG. LOT 196 1798 S-147 R5- VG8 . Sharpness near VF20 but covered with fine porosity and granularity. No verdigris and the toning is an attractive and slightly glossy light chocolate blending to dark olive brown and steel in protected areas. A dull horizontal scrape through the left end of the wreath stem is the only notable mark, and it blends into the toning. Possibly retoned but if so they did a great job. EDS, Breen state I, with an uncracked reverse. The date is bold and the legends are clear. A variety that is quite difficult to find with sharp details and nice surfaces.
LOT 192 1797 S-138 R1 F12 . Sharpness VF25 but covered with microscopic granularity and there are a few small pits on the obverse. No verdigris and trivial marks including a vertical scratch near the dentils off the hair ribbon and a light rim bruise at the second S in STATES. Light olive brown and steel. MDS, Breen state III early, with minor swelling at ES-OF-A.

LOT 193 1797 S-139 R1 G6 . Glossy medium brown with a few splashes of chocolate on the obverse. No corrosion or verdigris, just small marks consistent with the grade. A prick at the right end of the fraction bar is a good identifying mark. MDS. The date is bold and the legends are complete.
LOT 197 1798 S-149 R4+ Large 8, Style I Hair G5+ . At least a point sharper but there are several rim bruises, mostly on the obverse, and some fine hairline scratches well-hidden in the toning on the reverse. Glossy uniform dark steel and chocolate, possibly recolored but attractive. The date is bold and the legends are clear except for ONE CENT, which is faint, and OF, which is nearly gone thanks to significant swelling in that area. M-LDS, Breen state II late, with strong swelling at OF.
LOT 194 1797 S-140 R1 G5+ . Glossy light olive and chocolate brown. Choice except for a planchet flake under the lowest curl, as struck but distracting. Very late die state with severe swelling on both sides.
