EARLY AMERICAN COPPER SOCIETY AUCTION 2025

LOT 115 1794 S-21 R3 AG3+ . A couple points sharper, especially on the obverse, but a bit dull thanks to microscopic pitting, mostly in the fields and protected areas. The date is clear and the portrait has the details of a slightly higher grade. No verdigris and the best identifying marks are a thin horizontal void at the bottom of the cap and two small ticks at the base of the T in CENT. Delicately woodgrained steel brown and chocolate. E-MDS with a fine die crack through the B into the cap.

LOT 120

LOT 116 1794 S-22 R1 VG8+ . Several points sharper, particularly on the obverse, but there are some contact marks. The notable marks are at least a half dozen rim nicks on the obverse and a small rim bruise before the mouth. In addition there are a few light scratches on both sides and some contact marks between the eye and earlobe. The date is strong and the legends are clear. LDS with obvious swelling on the reverse.

LOT 118 1794 S-25 R3 PCGS graded VG10 . Glossy olive brown and steel. A bit dull from natural oxidation and traces of dirt in protected areas, mostly on the reverse. No corrosion or notable roughness, just small contact marks. There are three vertical nicks in the field before the neck, a diagonal nick high on the neck, and some faint hairlines on the cheek. The date and legends are complete and easily readable. MDS. Our grade is VG10. (The holder is scratched and scuffed.) 901374.10/36085244

LOT 117 1794 S-23 R4+ ANACS EF40 Details, Corroded . A sharply detailed cent but there is light corrosion in the fields and protected areas, strongest on the obverse, particularly under the bust. The reverse is reasonably smooth. There are no notable contact marks and the only trace of verdigris is a speck nestled between the pole and upper edge of the bust. Dark olive brown and steel, nearly black, with slightly lighter chocolate on the highpoints. LDS, Breen state V, with die cracks on the obverse. Our grade is VF35 sharpness net VF20. 5367256

LOT 119 1794 S-26 R2 VG8 . Slightly glossy steel brown and chocolate with lighter brown toning on the devices. Extremely faint roughness covers all but the highpoints but there is no verdigris and the eye appeal is nice for the grade. The only marks are a nick in the hair left of the neck, a tiny rim nick left of the lowest curl, and a small nick above the N in ONE. M-LDS with strong radial die cracks through the first S and E in STATES. The date and legends are complete except for weakness on CE due to die failure associated with the later die state.
