EARLY AMERICAN COPPER SOCIETY AUCTION 2025 CONDITION CENSUS 1850 N-20
yes LOT 448 1850 N-20 R5+ AU55 . A sharp, lustrous mint state cent that was dipped and is retoning light bluish steel with lots of mellowed red remaining in the fields and protected areas. There are two small ticks and a tiny planchet chip on the cheek, and a microscopic fissure on the E in ONE (the last two defects as struck). EDS, die state a. The fine die line through RIC is sharp. One of the finest of the variety in spite of the dipping, CC#3 in the Grellman census.

LOT 451 1851 N-16 R3 AU55+ . Lustrous light steel brown. Looks mint state but there is a hint of friction on the very highest points of the devices. The only marks are a streak of dark toning from the curl on the neck to star 12, a pair of very light hairline scratches between stars 4 & 5, and a tiny planchet flake on the edge right of star 13. LDS, Grellman state b. The earlier line through the upright of the 1 is gone and the fields are flowlined.
LOT 449 1850 N-28 R3- PCGS graded EF40 . Glossy light to medium brown with darker steel brown toning on the highpoints. Lightly worn with minor marks. E-MDS, die state a. Our grade is VF30. (The holder is scuffed.) 1889.40/33618767

LOT 450 1851/81 N-3 R1 Overdate 51 over Inverted 18, ANACS graded EF40 . Slightly glossy light steel brown with darker steel and olive brown in protected areas. A bit dull due to microscopic granularity that covers the planchet. No verdigris but there is a pit under the earlobe and a dull diagonal nick under star 5. E-MDS, die state a late. The die lines at the date are faint but still visible. The inverted 18 under 51 feature is clear. Our grade is VF30+ sharpness net VF25. The attribution is noted on the ANACS label. 7446945
LOT 452 1851 N-35 R5 VG8 . Sharpness near F12 but covered with small nicks. The only notable marks are a small, light nick in the center of the cheek and another left of star 6. Glossy light to medium brown.
