EARLY AMERICAN COPPER SOCIETY AUCTION 2025 FINEST EARLY STATE 1847 N-6
yes LOT 372 1847 N-6 R1 PCGS graded MS63 Brown, CAC Approved . Frosty light olive and steel with generous traces of mellowed mint red in protected areas, especially on the obverse. The only notable marks are a spot of shallow carbon on the rim right of star 10 and another at the leaf tip under the left side of the T in CENT. Nicely struck EDS+, die state a late. The dash left of the base of the 4 is weak but visible and the die line down from the dentils between stars 6 & 7 is sharp. Our grade is MS60 , tied for CC#8 in the Grellman census but tied for finest known of the early die state. The attribution and COL Ellsworth Collection provenance are noted on the PCGS label. yes LOT 373 1847 N-6 R1 NGC graded MS64 Brown . Frosty light olive and steel brown with 30% of the planchet showing mellowed mint red. The only notable marks are a tiny speck of carbon left of star 5, a few microscopic ticks between star 1 and the chin, and traces of a fingerprint under the E in CENT. MDS, die state b. The repunching left of the base of the 4 is gone but the short die line from the dentils right of star 6 is sharp. Our grade is MS60+ , tied for CC#6 honors in the Grellman census. A very nice cent that comes with a great provenance. (The holder is scratched.) 586937-003 Ex Charles J.
