LOT 272 1797 S-120a R3 Reverse of 1796, Plain Edge ANACS graded G6. Mostly glossy medium steel brown and chocolate. There are some faint hairline scratches inside the wreath and a couple small spots of very fine carbon at AM in AMERICA. Mostly glossy medium steel brown and chocolate. A small dig right of the date is the only notable contact mark. The date is strong and the legends are complete. Our grade is G5. The attribution is noted on the ANACS label.

LOT 274 1797 S-121a R7- Reverse of 1796, Plain Edge AG3+. The obverse is G5 but the reverse is significantly weaker, as always for this variety, perhaps Fair-2+. The surfaces are smooth and the edge shows no trace of “grip marks” or tooling. There are numerous small planchet chips on the portrait, mostly on the head (possibly as struck). Glossy light chocolate brown. The date and LIBERTY are strong but only half of the devices on the reverse are clear. MDS, Breen state III. Graded G5 net AG3 and tied for CC#7 in the Noyes census, his photo #36866.
LOT 273 1797 S-120b R2 Reverse of 1796, Gripped Edge F12. Sharpness VF20 but there is an obvious punch mark or attempted puncture under the fraction. Otherwise just minor marks including small rim nicks on the right side of the obverse. Rather glossy steel. Mostly glossy steel brown and chocolate. MDS, Breen state III, with crumbling on the profile. The Grip marks on the edge are clear.
