1794 LARGE CENTS FIXED PRICE LIST

Lot 47 1794 S-31 R-1 Longest Fraction Bar PCGS XF Detail (Environmental Damage). Dark olive and steel patina with traces specks of grainy crud in some protected areas on otherwise hard surfaces. The only marks of note are a tiny nick on C in CENT and even smaller ones on the left wreath branch. Strong date and legends. 35558.97/38415966 $ 2,950 Ex; Bellevue Collection

Lot 48 1794 S-32 R-2 VF30. The obverse is medium chocolate brown; the reverse is a darker shade of olive brown. Sharpness EF40 but covered with fine granularity. No verdigris but there are some old, light hairline scratches on the obverse including several horizontal ones at the bottom of the neck. TLDS, Breen state V, with strong die cracks and obvious clashmarks on the reverse. Struck with the obverse die misaligned to K-3, as usual on this variety. Graded AU50 by NGC (NGC label #508630-001 included, and it shows the attribution and Rasmussen provenance). Bland says VF35. Noyes says EF40 net VF25, his photo #25263. Obviously there are a wide variety of opinions on this one. What is certain is that this piece is sharp and it comes with a very nice provenance. $ 5,800 Ex: Charles J.
