LOT 710 1802 S-229 R2 VG10. Ten points sharper but covered with fine granularity. No verdigris, only a few small marks including rim nicks at the L and RT in LIBERTY, another under the 2 and some ticks on the cheek. Dark steel gray. EDS. Ex “P. LOT 711 1802 S-230 R1 VG8. Sharpness F15+ with very fine pitting on the right half of the obverse and some contact marks on an otherwise smooth planchet. No verdigris. The notable marks are a rim dent at BE in LIBERTY, a smaller one under the 0 in the date, a dig on the shoulder, and another on the lower edge of the bust. Glossy light chocolate brown. TDS, Breen state X, with a narrow raised cud break at the top of the wreath to the rim left of the O in OF. A very rare die state for an otherwise common variety.

LOT 712 1802 S-237 R2 VG10. Slightly sharper with a scratch through the E in CENT and cream colored crud tucked around some devices on the left side of the reverse. Glossy medium olive brown and steel.

LOT 713 1802 S-238 R4 VG10. Sharpness VF30 but covered with fine roughness mixed with shallow greenish patina in some of the protected areas. Dark steel and greenish olive. A diagonal nick in the field behind the head, a small nick in the drapery above the 0 in the date, and another left of the lowest curl are the only notable marks. MDS, Breen state III, with die cracks on the reverse. Sharp but not very attractive.
