 SHARP 1802 NC-1

LOT 714 1802 NC-1 R5+ VG7. Sharpness VF20 but covered with moderate granularity. No verdigris but there are two dull scratches across the lower part of the portrait, both blended perfectly into the dark steel and olive brown toning. A sharp cent, one of the sharpest seen of this rare variety, but an attractive one. MDS, Breen state II, with a fine die crack bisecting the obverse from the B to the dentils right of the date.

LOT 715 1803 S-243 R1 Stemless Wreath, Doubled Fraction Bar VG8. Slightly sharper, especially on the reverse, but covered with fine to moderate roughness. Dark steel brown. No marks or verdigris. LDS, Breen state IV, with a strong cud break at TY.

LOT 717 1803 S-252 R2 VG10. Sharper but cleaned and retoning glossy bluish steel brown and golden tan. No roughness or significant marks. MDS with die cracks at the date and lower curls but no cuds.

LOT 718 1803 S-257 R2 Large Fraction VG10. Ten points sharper but there are a few rim bruises on both sides, strongest on the left side of the obverse. The surfaces are smooth but there are traces of fine verdigris nestled into some protected areas. The planchet is slightly bent, but the bend is barely noticeable. Glossy light chocolate brown with steel brown highpoints. EDS.

LOT 716 1803 S-251 R2 VG8. Sharpness F12 but there are a few hairline scratches on both sides and several small nicks left of the L and around TATES OF. Glossy chocolate brown and steel with smooth surfaces and a very subtle bend in the planchet. EDS.
